The Author and Motivation for Writing the book

Having a book to hold in your hands, learning to read while having the excitement of discovering the outcome of an adventure has to be a fun activity for children. One day my niece was learning to write a book for school while story telling. I decided to take the challenge with her and write one of my own. One that was related to a great love of mine….. the Havanese dog breed. There was not much information out in the literary world about Havanese and I found I could talk for hours about how wonderful, playful, funny, and mischievous they are.

While being a teacher, I noticed there was a real disconnect with children ranging in ages from 3rd grade to 5th grade, not having a lot of reading materials to spark their interest in hobbies. I thought to myself, if I were going to write something, I would like for it to be educational AND fun to read while reinforcing colors, shapes, names of some particular flowers while giving them an appreciation for outdoor nature. This book has a rhythmic cadence that is fun and adventurous to read. There are bright colorful illustrations that I created with my camera and a cartoon tool.

The story is about a nice sunny spring day out in the backyard as the dogs want to be playful with their toys, but for some reason it quickly turns into a race for hide-N-go-seek when they can not find any of their toys.

I love the Havanese breed and my dogs. They started me on the path of being an owner, breeder and exhibitor of dogs in the AKC dog competition world.
